Calgary, 16th June 2016: One person is dead and another injured after a knife attack in a Calgary doctor’s office that cops say was the result of a domestic dispute.

Cops, paramedics and firefighter were called to the Perpetual Wellness Chinese Medicine Centre, 1623 Centre St. N, after the stabbing shortly after 2:40 p.m. Thursday.

They found Dr. Tiejun Huang already dead and a woman suffering minor wounds.

Police say those two and the suspect all knew each other.

Insp. Dean LeGrange said the three were all in their 40s and 50s.

He described the accused killer as being “calm” when the first officers arrived.

Emma Wong, 54, who owns Essential Eyewear on the first floor of the building. said she heard a commotion upstairs.

“All of a sudden we heard a lot of shouting,” she said.

“It got worse, considerably louder, so I went out to look.”

Wong said she saw people rushing downstairs and a police officer with a gun drawn running up.

The owners of a bakery and a dim sum restaurant at the bottom of the stairs immediately threw down their security gates, Wong said, afraid they were in danger.

The bakery remained shuttered hours later.

“It’s so scary when something like this happens,” Wong said.

“We hear people arguing here a lot so we didn’t think anything of it at first.”

Maggie Law, who owns the Misanto Spa, a few doors down from the clinic, said she heard screaming.

Law said she saw someone from the medical centre run into the Central Grand restaurant next door.

“They were yelling, ‘Bring some more towels, more towels, blood,” Law said.

“It was scary.”

Later, Law said she saw police bring out a suspect.

Police officers were seen guarding the entrance to the Perpetual Wellness Chinese Medicine Centre on the second floor of the strip mall.

The office window bears the name Dr. Tiejun Huang, followed by credentials Ph.D./MD R.Ac RMT DTCM.

It also states on the window the doctor was a sports medicine specialist at the Beijing Olympic Games, was a professor in sports medicine and rehabilitation, and performs acupuncture and Chinese “Tuina” massage.

A pair of slippers were left on the floor in front of the clinic.

LeGrange said the victim was the owner of the “shop.”

The area was blocked off with yellow police tape.

Blood drops were visible on the floor in front of the centre.

Nancy Zhu works as a nurse at Olive Medical in the strip mall and helped apply first aid to the injured woman.

“A woman, she was bleeding...I can’t remember which hand..she was cut.”

Last night LeGrange said homicide detectives were interviewing six witnesses as well as the suspect.

He said the doctor’s office or the mall was likely equipped with CCTV cameras that would be used in the investigation.

The suspect’s van also remained at the scene surrounded by police tape.
