Khulana, Bangladesh – 1st April, 2018: A pregnant woman has died at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) on Friday due to alleged medical negligence.

Manwara Begum, 32, wife of a certain Faruk Hossain, journalist of local daily Nawapara, was admitted to the hospital for delivery around 6:30am on Thursday.

After a check-up, gynaecologists at the hospital informed her husband that she will give birth to the baby naturally, sources at the hospital said.

But, they said, Manwara lost her life around 8:20am after she complained of labour pain, reports UNB.

Manwara’s relatives alleged that she had died due to negligence as physicians failed to conduct C-section in time.

At one stage of brawl over the death, interns beat up relatives of the patient, witnesses said.

Following the incident, they said, the director of the hospital and senior police officials rushed to the spot.

Hospital authorities said C-section was not possible as blood pressure of the patient was too high at that time. Later, she died due to convulsions, they claimed.

Police, meanwhile, detained three relatives of the deceased woman from the spot.

The body was handed over to family members on Friday night.

Later, a case was filed with Sonadanga model police station.
