Patient wakes up in hospital to find surgeon operated on wrong area despite big arrow on arm

Yorkshire, UK – 23rd May, 2018: Phillip Ivory, 61, had been experiencing numbness in his fingers and underwent elective ulnar nerve decompression surgery to restore feeling in July last year.
Yet despite marking Mr Ivory’s arm before he began the procedure at Castle Hill Hospital, in Hull, the surgeon made his incision on the outside area of the elbow, as opposed to the inner part where it should have been.
