Father of six Anthony Parnell died of heart failure on 13 October 2014, aged 32. His widow Krystal told A Current Affair he was coughing and complaining of chest pains for several days - but after visiting the doctor, he died less than 24 hours later.

Maria Morais, a 50-year-old Portuguese woman with two children, claimed that medical negligence during botched gynaecological surgery at a Portuguese hospital in 1995 left her unable to have normal sex. She won her compensation case for physical and mental suffering, but the hospital then won a 2013 appeal that cut the pay-out by around one-third.
 

Karen Frederick also said patients with "lower priority" problems such as back pain, stomach pain, falls or heavy bleeding were being assessed using smartphone apps such as Skype and Facetime.
