The family of a 38-year-old New Canaan woman who died at Stamford Hospital while giving birth to twins in 2017 claims her death was the result of medical malpractice and negligence, according to court filings.
The lawsuit was scheduled to go to trial in late October, but a last-minute resolution with one of the defendants has pushed back the date.
The lawsuit, originally filed in May 2018 against Stamford Hospital, its parent company, three doctors and four medical groups, claims Maura Gallagher died because of a failure “to exercise reasonable care” and negligence that boiled down to an underdiagnosis, undertreatment and mismanagement of Gallagher’s preeclampsia.
