Braden Smith was considered the “last great champion” of legendary host Alex Trebek, who died on November 8, 2020 at the age of 80.
Smith recorded his final appearance in October 2020 and died of a blood clot in his lungs in February 2021 three weeks after surgery to treat ulcerative colitis.
The death of a Nevada-born athlete shocked show fans, and on Monday the Las Vegas Review Journal reported that his family was suing two hospitals in their hometown of Henderson, Nevada.
