Nathaniel Henderson has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against a prominent educational institution and several associated medical professionals, alleging negligence that resulted in severe personal injury. The complaint was filed on September 27, 2024, in the Superior Court of California, County of San Francisco, naming The Regents of the University of California and three doctors as defendants.

The case revolves around an October 18, 2023 spinal surgery performed at UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco. Henderson claims that due to negligent assessment and treatment by the defendants, he suffered a neurological injury leading to permanent paralysis. The plaintiff asserts that from October 1, 2023, he sought medical advice for back pain and other symptoms from the defendants who failed to diagnose and manage his condition properly. "Defendants carelessly and negligently instructed, examined, diagnosed, prescribed for, cared for and treated plaintiff," the complaint states.

Henderson accuses the defendants of failing to provide timely diagnosis and appropriate management of his spinal condition which led to complications during surgery. He further alleges that this negligence caused him significant physical harm and emotional distress. As a result of these alleged acts and omissions by the defendants—who include Drs. Alan Nima, Phillip Theodosopoulos, Reilly Kidwell—Henderson has been unable to participate in his usual activities and anticipates ongoing limitations.

The lawsuit seeks general damages exceeding the court's jurisdictional minimum along with special damages according to proof. Additionally, Henderson requests compensation for incurred medical expenses with potential future costs anticipated due to ongoing care needs. He also seeks recovery for loss of earnings capacity resulting from his injuries.

Representing Nathaniel Henderson is attorney Nathaniel Leeds from Mitchell Leeds LLP. The case is presided over by Judge Austin Lam under Case ID CGC-24-618552.
