An ambulance trust has said it is "sincerely sorry" after a Hull dad died at home in front of his family after being left by an ambulance crew. The man, 51, was suffering from a hernia, which cut off blood to his bowel.

He had to wait two hours for the ambulance to arrive at his Hull home after his wife made three calls. His condition worsened and he was finding it hard to breathe and was dizzy.

When the crew did arrive, the man was examined before being left at home. He was told to take anti-sickness medication, despite his wife saying that he was "clearly very unwell".

The man also had a high heart rate of 130 beats per minute, reports HullLive. Now, his devastated widow has spoken out.

The woman, who has worked in the medical profession, said she had feared that the situation was serious because her husband had previously been diagnosed with an umbilical hernia.

It did not need surgical treatment at the time, but they had been told to seek urgent medical help if problems arose. She says the attitude of the ambulance crew "completely changed" when she informed them her husband had liver sarcoidosis, caused by alcohol dependence.
