A Sacramento couple has filed a lawsuit alleging severe medical malpractice that resulted in life-altering injuries. The complaint, lodged by Eric and Pamela Poff on June 6, 2024, in the Superior Court of California for the County of Sacramento, names Dr. Dana Verch and the West Coast Joint and Spine Center as defendants.

According to the plaintiffs, Eric Poff suffered significant harm due to negligent medical care starting around July 25, 2023. The lawsuit claims that Dr. Verch and associated entities failed to provide the standard of care required for his condition, leading to severe physical and emotional distress. "Plaintiff is informed and believes and therefore alleges that said injuries will result in some permanent disability," reads a portion of the complaint. The Poffs argue that this negligence has caused Eric not only physical pain but also substantial financial strain due to ongoing medical expenses and lost wages.

The plaintiffs assert that both Dr. Verch and the West Coast Joint and Spine Center were responsible for Eric's treatment during this period. They claim these entities either directly or indirectly contributed to his suffering through delayed or improper care. "Defendants impermissibly delayed, failed or were negligent in providing proper care resulting in severe injury," states the complaint.

Pamela Poff also seeks damages for loss of consortium, claiming her husband's injuries have deprived her of his companionship and support. She alleges that she has been "deprived of the services of her said husband by reason of his inability to carry out his usual duties." The couple argues that these losses are ongoing and will continue into the future.

The plaintiffs are seeking general damages exceeding $25,000 along with compensation for medical expenses, loss of earnings, costs incurred from filing the suit, prejudgment interest on damages from the date of injury until present, and any other relief deemed appropriate by the court.
