A couple, unable to conceive for more than fifteen years, approached the hospital to try their luck with Assisted Reproductive Technique (ART). IVF was attempted twice, but failed on both occasion. The couple subsequently opted for IUI – and they were second time lucky. The patient conceived, twin pregnancy was confirmed.

The patient was diagnosed with Rheumatic Heart Disease with severe Mitral Regurgitation (RHD with MR). Subsequently, she was also diagnosed with Coronary Artery Disease (CAD). The patient was referred to cardiologists at a reputed hospital.

The doctor administered an injection in patient’s left gluteal region which caused foot drop due to injection palsy. This diagnosis was confirmed by other doctors and a reputed national hospital.

Patients and attendants are becoming increasingly demanding. While some demands may be met in order to pacify them, bowing down to every whim and fancy is not possible and should be avoided.

The patient sustained several injuries in a horrific car accident. He was rushed to the government hospital, provided first aid and subsequently referred to a higher centre where multiple fractures around pelvis region, and dislocation of left hip joint was reported.

The patient, an elderly gentleman, developed cataract in his right eye. He visited an eye hospital where it was successfully removed. Few days after the procedure, he once again visited the hospital with complain of vision problems. The doctor performed LASIK procedure and discharged the patient. However it did not bear desired result.

Availability of a specialist must be confirmed before referring the patient, especially in cases where his / her services could be needed due to know complications. Not doing so is negligence.
