Dharamgarh: Tension flared up at Dharamgarh sub-divisional hospital in Kalahandi following the death of a pregnant woman on Saturday. The kin of the deceased woman staged dharna alleging medical negligence in treatment by the doctors.
The deceased woman has been identified as Sumitra Rout, a native of Tendapali village under Koksara police limits. She was a Asha worker.
Sources said, Sumitra was admitted at the Dharamgarh sub-divisional hospital after developing labour pain on Friday 5 pm. After, her condition deteriorated the doctors in the hospital told that she her treatment cannot be done here and shifted her to Kalahandi District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for further treatment.
When they reached the District Headquarters hospital Sumitra took her last breath.
Later, the relatives of Sumitra levelled alleged medical negligence in the treatment, they eventually resorted to protest at NH-130 demanding probe into the matter.
