SRINAGAR, Dec 5: To handle the emergency cases of different nature efficiently across the hospitals in Kashmir Division, the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) today ordered the formation of a 6-member team of doctors who have been tasked to supervise such cases across the division.
The Directorate stated that the team has been formed to streamline the functioning of emergency rooms across the division and also to create uniformity in the management of the emergency cases that pour in on daily basis across the hospitals in Kashmir.
The team that has been formed consists of specialists that will be tasked to supervising emergency care across the division with immediate effect
The team includes Dr Manzoor A Rather, Consultant Anaesthetist, DH Ganderbal, Dr Akhter Ganai, I/C Consultant Physician, JLNM Srinagar, Dr Muzafar Zargar, I/C Consultant Physician, CHC Hajin, Dr Nasir Shamas, Consultant Physician, JLNM Srinagar, Dr Liza Rafiq, Consultant Gynaecologist, DH Pulwama, Dr Irshad Tabasum, Consultant Orthopaedic, JLNM Srinagar and Dr Masarat Sultan, Consultant Pediatrician, DH Ganderbal.
The team, as per the Directorate, will also ensure accountability and create coherence in the functioning of the emergency rooms across the division. Further, the Chief Medical Officer of the concerned district has been stated to be responsible to ensure the optimal functioning of ER Rooms within his jurisdiction
The Administrators of the hospital/ Medical Superintendent/ Block Medical Officer have been declared as the immediate In-Charge of the Emergency Room of the facility
The Administrators of the hospitals have also been directed to ensure that the staff is optimally trained and updated in Basic Life Support and ACLS/ATLS skill and has also has been directed to take appropriate steps to ensure the same.
More so, the Administrators have also be asked to ensure that the Emergency rooms are equipped with the required gadgets, drugs and protocol charts including all proformas as per the requirements.
The coherence among the various specialities involved in ER has been stated is going to be the prime responsibility of the in-charge administrator of the facility.
The Directorate has impressed on the need of record-keeping and record sharing and has asked the administrators that such records are shared every month compulsorily by the administrator without fail
Notably, after the family of senior journalist Mudasir Ali alleged medical negligence by the doctors at the hospital where he was taken in district Budgam, the Health Department had ordered an inquiry into the matter, following which the constitution of a team ordered to supervise the Emergency has come to the fore.
