JAMMU: A 23-year-old youth, Ashok Sharma, from Reasi died at Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu on Sunday, with his family alleging serious medical negligence by the hospital staff.
Ashok’s mother, who works in a factory in Bari Brahmana and stays in a rented house there, hails from Reasi, said they brought her son to GMC Jammu early in the morning after he suffered bleeding in his leg. According to her, they reached the hospital around 6 am, but doctors allegedly did not start treatment until nearly 12 noon.
She claimed that despite her son’s condition worsening, “the bleeding did not stop, and they didn’t even apply proper bandages. No treatment was started for hours.”
The family has accused the hospital of delaying critical care, which they believe led to Ashok’s death. They have demanded an immediate inquiry and action against the responsible staff.
