Retired PAC cop's family alleges he died due to medical negligence, attacks doctors

Aligarh: The family of a retired Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) official allegedly assaulted doctors and staffers at a hospital in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. The accused alleged that the man died due to medical negligence and also took to vandalism. 

The accused are family members of the deceased. The 67-year-old man was undergoing treatment at the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Joint Hospital in Aligarh. 

Nodal officer alleged accused 'created a scene'

The accused allegedly abused and attacked the doctors and other staffers. Not only this but the accused also vandalised an office where patients’ records are stored. The retired official's daughters is one of the accused. The nodal officer of the hospital Dr Bal Kishan claimed that the accused "created a scene". 

After the incident, the hospital staff staged a protest and demanded prompt action against the accused. The matter, however, was resolved two hours later after the cops assured the staffers and doctors of action, The Indian Express reported. 

Accused booked, no arrest made yet

Late night on Sunday, the cops registered an FIR against five women. The women were booked under rioting, assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty and criminal intimidation. No arrest has been made yet.

The police said that efforts are underway to collect the CCTV footage and record the statements of the hospital staff. As per the cops, Sheroman Singh was admitted to ward number 5 as he had a high fever for three days. He passed away on Sunday afternoon. Shyam Singh, SHO of Quarsi police station said, "Hospital staff alleged that accused women, whose identities are yet to be ascertained, were making a false allegation that the death occurred due to their [hospital staff] negligence. "
