Prayagraj: A police inspector and his brothers allegedly assaulted doctors at a hospital after their mother passed away during treatment. The scuffle broke out at the Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital in Prayagraj on Friday.

The cop's 72-year-old mother breathed her last while she was undergoing treatment. The accused was identified as inspector Zulfikar Ali. Ali's mother Badrun Nisha was admitted to the hospital. 

Inspector, brothers accused doctors of medical negligence

Soon after the woman breathed her last, Ali and his brother accused the doctors of medical negligence. When the argument escalated, both the sides started making videos on their mobile phones. When the doctors raised an objection to filming videos in the ward, the accused allegedly resorted to violence. 

A preliminary probe revealed that Ali and his relatives also suffered injuries during the scuffle. The accused, however, did not lodge a complaint against the hospital staff, The Indian Express reported.

Doctors, staffers staged 7-hour long protest, demanding acting against accused

Furious after the incident, the doctors and hospital staff staged a protest for around 7 hours and demanded prompt action against the accused. The matter, however, was resolved after the senior administrative and police officials pacified the medical staff and assured them of proper action against the accused.

Local SHO Narendra Prasad said that statements of the medical personnel will be recorded and the CCTV footage will be collected. No arrest has been made yet.
