In a case of alleged medical negligence in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district, a 25-year-old deaf and mute man, Rohitash Kumar, who was declared dead by doctors, regained consciousness moments before his cremation. The incident led to the suspension of three doctors and the initiation of an inquiry.
Kumar, a resident of a shelter home with no immediate family, was admitted to BDK Hospital on Thursday after his health deteriorated. Despite efforts, he was pronounced dead at 2 pm and his body was moved to the mortuary. Police later completed formalities and transferred the body to a crematorium.
However, as the body was placed on the pyre, Kumar began breathing, shocking those present. He was immediately rushed back to the hospital in an ambulance and admitted to the intensive care unit, where officials reported his condition as stable.
Following the incident, District Collector Ramavtar Meena suspended Dr. Yogesh Jakhar, Dr. Navneet Meel, and PMO Dr. Sandeep Pachar. An investigative committee has been set up, and the medical department secretary has been informed. Revenue Officer Mahendra Mund and Deputy Director of the Social Justice Department Pawan Poonia also visited the hospital to assess the situation.
