Baramulla boy dies at JVC Bemina, family alleges medical negligence - - Kashmir Patriot

Srinagar: A 14-year-old boy from Baramulla district died at JVC Bemina hospital last night while his family alleged that there was medical negligence from doctors, a claim rejected by the authorities.

The mother of deceased boy told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that he 14-year-old son Parvaiz Ahmad from Kakarpora Mirgund Baramulla on Friday complained of pain in his abdomen after which they shifted him to JVC Bemina and treating him he got relaxed and were allowed to go home.

“At home, we had dinner and once we slept, he again complained of pain in abdomen and we again shifted him to JVC Bemina where few injections were given to him and glucose was infused”, she said, adding that doctors went to their rooms,

however, condition of Parvaiz worsened after which she called doctors again but they gave him more injections and left. “My son’s condition detoraited further but there was none to help him,” she alleged.

She said that after his condition worsened further, the doctors told them to go to SKIMS Soura. “We requested them to give a staff member who will accompany us to Soura as patient is very critical but they declined,” she said. “I even touched their feet to send at least one staff member with us, but they refused and till then my son had died.”

Father of deceased’s boy said that there was no special doctor available at the hospital due to which their kin wasn’t treated well and he died due to “medical negligence of the staff who were on duty.”

They requested authorities to look into the matter and investigate the whole incident and take action against the erring officials as per law.

Medical Superintendent JVC Bemina Shifa Deva told KNO that as per preliminary investigation, patient has been treated as per protocol and there seems no medical negligence.

She said that despite that an enquiry committee of senior professors has been constituted to investigate the full incident and report will come in next two days after which they will reach to any conclusion—(KNO)
