HC orders notice to the union in a plea to digitalize GH medical reports and certificates

CHENNAI: The first bench of the Madras High Court directed the Union Government to file its response within four weeks in a plea for digitalizing the medical reports and certifications of Government Hospitals and medical facilities in Tamil Nadu.

The bench of Acting Chief Justice T Raja and Justice D Krishnakumar passed the direction on hearing the petition filed by a Trichy-based doctor named Mohammed Khader Meeran AS.

The petitioner sought direction from the court to the union government to implement the MedLeaPR (Medico-Legal Examination and Postmortem Reporting) software framework in all Government Hospitals, centrally funded Hospitals under the administrative control of the Union Government and other Health Care Facilities situated in the Southern part of Tamil Nadu.

He further submitted that all the Practicing Doctors should be trained to use the MedLeaPR software framework to digitalize Medical Certification of Cause of Death (MCCD) and other medical reports.
