Andhra Pradesh: Five patients die at Covid care centre running without permission | Amaravati News - Times of India

TIRUPATI: Five Covid-19 patients under treatment at a Covid care facility died due to various reasons on Saturday. The facility was run by a private hospital without obtaining necessary permissions.
Five Covid-19 patients from different parts of Kadapa district got admitted to a private hospital in Kurnool city during the last one week.
As the family members and relatives of the five deceased patients alleged that the Covid-19 patients died at the private hospital due to lack of oxygen supply, district collector G Veerapandian ordered an enquiry.
Later, when the district collector along with Kurnool SP Dr Kaginelli Fakeerappa visited and inspected the hospital where they interacted with the relatives of the deceased as well as the management of the private hospital, it emerged that the private hospital did not have the requisite permission to admit Covid-19 patients in the first place.
"We have arrested the managing directors of two private hospitals in the city today for flouting rules and endangered the lives of Covid-19 patients. We have been releasing the list of private hospitals notified for Covid care in the district and appeal to the public to take note and get admitted only in these private hospitals and at government-run Covid care facilities in the district. It is not true that the five patients died at the hospital due to lack of oxygen. We have ordered an enquiry and will find out if the deaths occurred due to medical negligence or for other reasons," asserted Veerapandian.
