Chris Cornell’s widow and children have settled a negligence lawsuit with a California doctor they accused of prescribing him “dangerous” and “mind-altering” drugs before the rock singer’s suicide four years ago.

The settlement ends a lengthy battle involving allegations of medical malpractice over Dr. Robert Koblin’s treatment of the Soundgarden frontman, who hanged himself in a Detroit hotel room in May 2017. The confidential deal was reached in early April, Southern California’s news outlet City News Service reported Thursday.

“After years of litigation and settlement negotiations, Plaintiffs and Defendants... have reached a confidential settlement agreement to resolve all claims,” attorneys for the Cornell family said a court filing.

The 2018 lawsuit accused Koblin and his Beverly Hills office of over-prescribing a series of medications, including more than 900 doses of the anti-anxiety medication Lorazepam, without a single in-person consultation in the 20 months leading up to Cornell’s death.
