UP man files FIR against doctor and 'untrained' medical staff for jeopardizing patient’s health

A UP woman accused a doctor and an "untrained" male medical staff for risking her life and outraging her modesty during the birth of her child at a hospital, the police said on Thursday.

A complaint was lodged at Prem Nagar police station on Wednesday based on directives of ADG Avinash Chandra, they said.

The police registered the FIR against Dr. Shalini Maheshwari and her male staff under IPC Sections 336 (act endangering life or personal safety), 338 (causing grievous hurt) and 354 (outraging woman's modesty) along with relevant provisions of the Indian Medical Council Act.

The woman is a doctor and her husband is a cardiologist, who filed the complaint against Maheshwari and the staff member. He alleged that he admitted his pregnant wife at Gangasheel Hospital on March 21 just before the arrival of their child but the accused put her life in danger.

According to the complaint when his wife went into labour pain a nurse had called Dr Maheshwari who did not turn up. Later, the delivery was performed by an "untrained" male staff member.

On March 23, when her medical condition did not improve she was moved to another hospital. Currently, she is undergoing treatment over there, the husband added in his complaint.
