A man, who went to a hospital for medico-legal certificate, was set afire by a person, who had allegedly injured the victim in a scuffle in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar, sources said on Friday.
The victim, Damodar Kori, is undergoing treatment at Bundelkhand medical college. His condition is said to be stable. The incident took place at district hospital on Thursday. The incident was captured in CCTV camera and a video footage went viral on social media on Friday. The police registered a case and started a probe. The accused was arrested.
Additional SP Sagar Vikram Singh said the victim, a Kasganj resident, had an old dispute with Milan Rajak. On Thursday, the duo had a scuffle in which the victim sustained injuries. He was admitted to the district hospital. Late at night, the accused barged into the hospital, poured petrol at him and set him ablaze. Doctors and other on-duty medical staff doused the flames and informed the police.
“Preliminary probe suggests he used petrol to set the victim ablaze. The victim in his statement also confirmed that he was set ablaze by Milan Rajak,” Singh said.
