A teacher from Cirencester who blames medical negligence for the loss of her career has launched a legal battle for compensation of more than £200,000.

Mr. and Mrs. Ghosh were feeling jubilant as their life was about to change, for good. Any new and soon-to-be-parents would perhaps feel the same way. While nearing the delivery date, Mrs. Ghosh unfortunately started bleeding severely and visited Dr. Basu who diagnosed her and performed D&C for incomplete abortion. Her trauma did not end there. 

Maharashtra has drafted a “Prevention of Cut Practice in Health Care Services Act, 2017”, the first Bill in India that aims to deter kickbacks in medical networks amongst doctors, pharmaceutical companies, diagnostic laboratories and hospitals.

In a one-of-a-kind case, a doctor from Pune was fined for performing a procedure on the ground that it needs an approval from Medical Council of India (MCI).

It is a practicing specialist’s bounden duty to verify patient’s medical history and existing conditions or ailments before performing procedures. There are times, however, when the practitioner fails to do so. The courts don’t fail to observe this negligence.

Some medical negligence cases could be easily avoided if the care givers are more diligent and careful while providing treatment. This case is one such example.
