Satbir Singh, a taxi driver from Australia, was in India attending wedding of his close relative. A firecracker burst on top of his right foot causing grave injuries.

Is it not better to own up a mistake, apologise for it and make amends rather than presenting a defiant stance? Courts usually do not take such instances lightly, as you will see in this case.

A hospital was held negligent in this case for not cross questioning the patient on the allegations that were levelled against it. There were one or two other reasons as well which proved to be their undoing.

A hospital was recently sued for not furnishing medical records. The patient contended that despite several requests the documents were not provided.

The patient was diagnosed with malaria and was under the care of Dr. Bhagat. Despite taking anti-malarial drugs, the patient did not show any improvement. The doctor prescribed different medicines on subsequent visits, but to no avail. Patient’s condition continued to deteriorate.

In a strange turn of events, the patient alleged doctor of negligently administering an injection on her arm in the month of October which caused radial nerve injury. The strange part is, the patient was under the doctor’s care between months of May and September, after which she was referred to a hospital for better treatment.

It is always advisable to confirm suspicions arising out of different opinions / investigation reports. Performing an intervention before doing so could be held negligence, as happened in this case.
