Monitoring the patient inadequately – Anaesthetist, surgeon and hospital held negligent

The patient, a pregnant woman, experienced severe pain in her abdomen. She consulted the doctor at a hospital. USG was performed; it reported stones in gall bladder.

The patient was admitted for surgery. Spinal anaesthesia was administered by the anaesthetist, the surgeon performed cholecystectomy to remove gall stones. After about forty minutes, the patient suffered cardiac arrest. While resuscitation was successful, she slipped into a coma.
