Patient fell from stairs post-operatively? Where’s the proof?

Patient’s left leg was fractured and it sustained injuries in a road accident. He was rushed to hospital where the orthopaedic surgeon performed surgery, inserted the IM nail to join the broken bone. The patient was discharged on tenth day, with an advice to follow up after thirty days.
Patient experienced sharp pain in the leg, pus was also oozing from the operated site. He consulted the doctor after about twenty days. The doctor prescribed medicines, dressing was changed. But to no avail.
