A high-risk delivery does not end with the birth. For the hospital, it can be the moment when preparedness is put to the test.
A recent case before the Madhya Pradesh State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission involved a newborn delivered by caesarean section. The baby was of low birth weight and, shortly after birth, developed respiratory distress and hypothermia. The child was subsequently shifted to another hospital, where the newborn remained admitted for nearly two weeks.
