Supreme Court of India reaffirms an important aspect of medical care by doctors

A young boy, aged six years old, was diagnosed with congenital PTOSIS. Surgery was performed at a reputed government hospital to correct dropping of the eyelid. While the surgery was successful, PTOSIS recurred soon after the procedure.

The boy’s father sued the doctor, alleging that he performed surgery in a negligent manner leading to further deterioration in the boy’s eyes.
