Dr. Gadkar had performed cholecystectomy on a patient with gall stones, who subsequently developed extrahepatic obstruction to the bile flow which further developed into obstructive jaundice. Eventually an end-to-end jejunojejunostomy was performed by a different doctor in Mumbai after which the patient recovered.
