FIR against Ghaziabad hospital after nurse partly amputates infant's finger

A case of alleged medical negligence was registered against the management of Sarvodaya Hospital in Kavi Nagar, and a nurse, after part of a nine-month-old girl's little finger was accidentally amputated during a routine medical procedure.Chief medical officer Akhilesh Mohan said a 4mm portion of the fingertip, including the nail, was severed while removing a cannula from the infant's left hand. A minor procedure was performed at the hospital on Monday to remove the severed muscle, and she continued to remain under treatment, the official said.A complaint filed by the child's father, Ankush Tyagi, on Saturday said the injury occurred on Feb 27, three days after the infant, Shree, was admitted to the private hospital for a high fever.
