Tension gripped Patnagarh Hospital in the Balangir district of Odisha following the accusation by a family that medical negligence caused the death of a new born baby.
According to the family, the wife of Sarat Meher of Chingerbandh village, who was admitted to the hospital Tuesday morning in labor pains, was in attendance by a nurse present at the time as there was not a single doctor available.
It was alleged by the family members that she labored pains all night but no doctor came for her aid and this morning she gave a still birth.
Following which the relatives complained, delay in the treatment and lack of doctors is the cause for this.
The agitated relatives then stormed inside the hospital premises demanding action against the culprits.
On receiving information, Patnagarh police rushed to the spot to investigate the allegations.
In another incident, similar accusations of medical negligence were raised against the District Headquarters Hospital of Malkangiri following the death of eight months pregnant woman named Bandana Mondal, which also created tension and a protest was staged in the hospital with relatives blaming doctors for inadequate treatment of the patient.
