The Jammu & Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of a young orphan boy from Gonipora Kunzer and demanded a thorough investigation into the incident. Alleging medical negligence at the local health facility, the Forum has called for immediate disciplinary action against the Block Medical Officer (BMO) Kunzer.

As per a press release by JKCSF issued to the Greater Kashmir, The deceased, Zeshan Rashid, son of late Abdul Rashid, a resident of Gonipora Kunzer, lost his life due to the unavailability of medical aid and ambulance services. He was reportedly sole bread-earner of his orphaned family, lost his life due to the unavailability of medical aid and ambulance services in a time of dire need.

It said that “According to distressing reports from local residents, the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Aboora was without any medical staff when the emergency occurred. Worse still, the ambulance driver was absent, resulting in a fatal delay. This is being widely seen as a heinous act of official negligence.”

JKCSF strongly holds the Block Medical Officer (BMO) Kunzer accountable for this lapse. It has been reported that instead of ensuring medical staff presence at PHC Aboora, the BMO has allegedly been misusing the services of PHC Kunzer staff for personal administrative assignments. Such dereliction of duty in a healthcare setup directly endangers lives and cannot be tolerated.
