A 17-year-old girl from Hedigonda village in Byadagi taluk died on Tuesday allegedly due to adverse effects from an injection administered at a private hospital in the city for treating a boil on hand. Vandana Tuppada's parents demonstrated their grief and anger by placing her body in front of the hospital premises. The incident unfolded when the medical staff suggested a minor surgical procedure and administered medication through a saline drip. Subsequently, she experienced severe reactions, including itching and oral foaming, leading to her immediate death. The family alleged medical negligence in the death, saying she was perfectly healthy earlier that day when she sought treatment for a minor wrist boil. Following the incident, the hospital staff, including the doctors, were reportedly unavailable. Taluk medical officer Dr Prabhakar Kundur inspected the facility after learning about the incident. He said they collected details and would temporarily close the hospital. He said a detailed report would be forwarded to senior officials for appropriate action.Additional SP LS Shirakol along with city CPI Mothilal Pawar and other police personnel visited the premises.
