The WBCERC fined Divine Nursing Home Rs 10 lakh for medical negligence leading to a babys death. The commission also imposed Rs 1 lakh fine on Holy Palace Hospital in Darjeeling for mishandling a patients catheter procedure.

The West Bengal Clinical Establishment Regulatory Commission (WBCERC) has imposed a Rs 10 lakh fine on Divine Nursing Home for alleged medical negligence. Mr. Ravisankar Sau had admitted his wife for delivery, and the infant was born healthy, weighing 2.9 kg. However, the baby died later that evening, allegedly due to respiratory issues while being fed.

The commission found negligence, as two nurses were on duty at the time—one resigned immediately after the incident, and the other was on leave. Additionally, the WBCERC fined Holy Palace Hospital in Darjeeling Rs 1 lakh for negligence in a separate case involving a patient who died after a catheter procedure caused bleeding. Both hospitals were held responsible for their actions.
