The relatives of a man, who died while he was being shifted to hospital, alleged that the man died because there was no oxygen cylinder in the 108 ambulance. The family members staged a rasta roko before the government hospital on Wednesday night.

According to locals, one Mulugu Swamy (46) collapsed on Wednesday night at Singatama village when the family members called 108 ambulance service. Since there was a delay in the arrival of the ambulance, they shifted him to Gajwel in an auto.

However, the ambulance arrived in the middle of the journey and picked up Swamy. When they reached the hospital, the doctors, who attended on him, declared Swamy dead. He died of a heart attack.

Accusing the lack of oxygen in the ambulance resulting in the death of Swamy, the family members staged a protest before the hospital. However, the police convinced them to withdraw the protest. Tension prevailed on the premises of the hospital for a while. However, ambulance staff said that they had given oxygen to Swamy.
