In a significant development, Bolangir Town Police have initiated steps to exhume the body of a woman, three days after she was buried, for a post-mortem examination. The move comes following allegations by the family members that the woman died due to medical negligence.
According to reports, Saudamini Nag, a resident of Ranisarada village in Sonepur district, was admitted to a private hospital in Malpada on June 23 after suffering from a gallstone issue. However, after undergoing surgery, her health deteriorated sharply.
Following the complications, the doctors referred her to another medical facility in an ambulance, where she was declared dead.
Allegation by family members
Subsequently, the deceased's family has alleged that she died due to wrong or negligent treatment by the doctors.
After a complaint was filed, the police launched an investigation. Since no post-mortem had been conducted before the burial, police visited the village burial ground to retrieve the body.
