A doctor at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Berhampur has been accused of inappropriately referring a patient from the casualty department to a private hospital for personal benefit.
As per information, a patient named Balram Gouda of Baghalati in Golanthara area died due to alleged medical negligence at a private hospital in Berhampur. Following his death, family members have alleged that the patient was first taken to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital (MKCGMCH). However, he was referred to a private hospital for treatment.
Sources said the patient was allegedly referred to private hospital by assistant professor in Orthopaedics Department Dr Dillip Pradhan through a junior, a postgraduate medical student.
The family of the deceased claimed that they were advised to shift the patient to the private hospital by the junior doctor on instructions from Dr Pradhan.
