HOWRAH: A Howrah family cried medical negligence after a private hospital in Belur issued death certificate to their 4-month-old child who was still alive. The private hospital has launched an internal probe. Cops had to intervene after the family members of the child protested in front of the private hospital.
The child's aunt, Mukta Saha, said she was taken to the private hospital around 3pm with breathing distress where she got no nebulizer support and was declared dead.
The family then brought her home and noticed that she was responding. Around 4.30pm, she was taken to a private practitioner, who advised immediate hospitalization.
The child was then taken to Howrah district hospital, where she got nebulizer support but died two hours later, in the evening.
Howrah district hospital super Narayan Chatterjee said: "When we admitted the child, she was alive and we tried our best to help her."
