In a shocking case of alleged medical negligence, an elderly man died in Pipalpada village under the Laxmipur police station limits of Koraput district after waiting nearly five hours for an ambulance.
The deceased, identified as Lalu Mandinga, was reportedly attacked by miscreants over just Rs 1,300, leaving him critically injured. His family members rushed him to Laxmipur Medical Centre, where doctors advised an immediate transfer to Koraput District Headquarters Hospital for advanced treatment.
However, despite repeated pleas from his family, no ambulance could be arranged for almost five hours. Doctors at Laxmipur tried to stabilise him, but the delay in transfer proved fatal, and Lalu succumbed to his injuries.
Angry villagers and family members have blamed the unavailability of timely medical transport, alleging that this negligence directly led to his death.
“A person from our village attacked my father for just Rs 1300. We first rushed him to the hospital in an auto rickshaw. After primary treatment, the doctor asked us to shift him to the Koraput hospital. Despite calling an ambulance multiple times, it did not turn up. Eventually, my father succumbed to his injuries,” alleged deceased Lulu’s son.
