AGARTALA: A division bench of the high court of Tripura has directed the state government to pay compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the mother of a lawyer who was admitted to Agartala Government Medical College after an accident and died due to alleged medical negligence.
The HC bench comprising Justice AA Kureshi and Justice SG Chattopadhyay further said that the deceased’s mother can also petition the court if she thinks the compensation is not enough in comparison to the loss she suffered.
The lawyer, Bhaskar Debroy (27), a resident of College Tilla area of the city, met with a bike accident on the night of March 7 last year. He was later rescued by fire brigade personnel and taken to the trauma care centre of AGMC. Debroy died the next morning.
