A tragic case of medical negligence led to a patient’s death at a private hospital in Kamareddy district after medicines were allegedly exchanged between two patients with the same name.
The incident occurred when a 73 year old man, Nagabalaraju, from Anchanuru village in Domakonda mandal, visited the hospital for nerve related and thyroid treatment. At the same time, another patient with the same name was present for diabetes treatment.
According to the complaint, hospital staff called out the name, following which Nagabalaraju entered the doctor’s room.
Doctors allegedly failed to verify age or medical history and prescribed high dose diabetes medication meant for the other patient.
