Tension erupted at Phansidewa Rural Hospital following the death of a patient, Mohammad Tamizuddin, due to alleged medical negligence. Mohammad Tamizuddin, a resident of Kalu Jote in Phansidewa, had been admitted to the hospital three days ago for a stomach-related issue.
Reports suggest that despite being admitted, the patient was not provided with adequate medical care and was left untreated. The situation escalated when the patient passed away on Thursday.
Upon receiving the news, Phansidewa police immediately arrived at the scene. Karmadhyaksha MD Ainul Haque of Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad also visited the hospital.
Following the incident, the body was sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for a postmortem examination. Phansidewa BMOH Dr. Shahinur Islam, however, denied any negligence, stating that the patient died from a heart attack.
