The family of a 16-year-old girl, who was admitted to the Kozhikode govt medical college hospital (MCH) for pneumonia, alleged that the minor did not get proper treatment at the hospital and was sent to a private hospital citing unavailability of ventilator. The girl died while being shifted to the private hospital.Nishala K, mother of Ashwatha, a native of Pulikkal in Malappuram, said that she was taken from a hospital in Kondotty to the Kozhikode MCH on Sunday night due to pneumonia and severe difficulties in breathing. She was kept in the casualty department during the night. Nishala said that her daughter was later shifted to another ward next morning and kept there with authorities stating that there were no beds available with ventilator support.
