Patna's Nalanda Medical College and Hospital has set up a four-member committee, including the head of the eye department, to investigate the allegations.
In a startling case of alleged medical negligence, the eye of a deceased man was found missing a few hours after his death at Patna's Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) on Saturday. The family of the deceased accused the doctors of removing the eye. The doctors, however, pinned the blame on rats gnawing at the body.
The police said it is "investigating the case from all angles". "The written application from the deceased's family has not been received yet," Assistant superintendent of police (ASP), Atulesh Kumar Jha, told TOI.
Fantush Kumar, a resident of Nalanda, died during treatment on Friday. Fantush was being treated for gunshot wounds at the hospital.
