A family in the remote village of Nayal Kanzalwan, Gurez, is mourning the tragic loss of their newborn child, allegedly due to medical negligence at the New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) Bagtore.
According to the family, Gulshan Bashir, a resident of Nayal Gurez and expecting her first child, was admitted to NTPHC Bagtore at around 6:00 AM on Monday morning after experiencing severe labour pains and pregnancy-related complications. The family claims that for the next four critical hours, no doctor attended to her.
Her brother, Shabir Ahmad Bhat, in a desperate plea for justice, submitted a written application to BMO & SHO Gurez detailing the harrowing ordeal.
"Despite her critical condition, no doctor was present until 10:00 AM. Even after the doctor arrived, my sister was left in excruciating pain without proper care. We were not allowed to see her, and no updates were given," Bhat recounted, his voice trembling with grief.
According to family members, by 2:00 PM, the situation turned dire. They were abruptly informed that Gulshan's condition had worsened, and she was being referred to CHC Dawar. There, she finally delivered the baby—but it was too late. The newborn could not survive.
