Sonepur: The district administration in Odisha's Sonepur sealed a private nursing home on Friday following the death of a man allegedly due to medical negligence.
A team led by Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Usharani Das conducted a raid on Asha Nursing Home and ordered its closure after preliminary findings pointed to serious lapses in patient care.
According to reports, the incident occurred a few days ago when an accident victim was brought to a government hospital for treatment. The attending doctor reportedly referred the patient to the private nursing home. The delay in receiving timely treatment is suspected to have led to the patient’s death.
Taking serious note of the incident, the district collector had earlier ordered a detailed inquiry and directed officials to take necessary action. Acting on these instructions, the health department team inspected the facility and subsequently sealed the nursing home.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
