Pathanamthitta: In a bizarre incident, a man in Pathanamthitta has alleged that a wound on his forehead was stitched with two ants inside it at Ranni Taluk Hospital. Sunil Abraham, a native of Ranni here, claimed that the ants were sewn into the wound on his forehead during treatment at the hospital.

The injury occurred when Sunil fainted due to high blood pressure while driving his pickup vehicle last Sunday evening. He stopped the vehicle and collapsed inside it. Around 7.30 pm, he sought treatment at Ranni Taluk Hospital, where the wound on his forehead was stitched. He was then referred to Pathanamthitta General Hospital for a CT scan.

According to Sunil, he began experiencing persistent stabbing pain in the wound during the journey to the general hospital. After undergoing a CT scan, the report allegedly revealed the shocking presence of two ants inside the sutured wound.

Sunil says the medical team at the general hospital then removed the stitches, extracted the ants and re-stitched the wound. The hospital’s medical record also reportedly mentioned the presence of a foreign object inside the wound.

Meanwhile, the superintendent of Ranni Taluk Hospital responded that the hospital was not aware of any complaint and had only learned about the allegations through the media.
