Taking note of a complaint related to the death of a woman due to alleged medical negligence, King George's Medical University (KGMU) on Sunday initiated a disciplinary inquiry against an ENT surgeon, who allegedly persuaded the family members of the patient to get the surgery done at a private hospital.
The probe will investigate the medical negligence and private practice charges against the doctor.
The family of Poonam Maurya, 32, has filed a complaint with the Madheyganj police station and KGMU administration.
Poonam, a resident of Lakhimpur, had initially visited KGMU for treatment, but her family claims she was persuaded by the doctor to undergo surgery at a private hospital in Khadra, where her condition deteriorated, ultimately leading to her death.
